Fat Bradley Solo at the Wheelhouse

Thanks to the Wheelhouse in Greenfield, MA for capturing a more experimental solo during Fat Bradley’s set. The Wheelhouse is a new venue in the basement of the Arts Block, and I’ve played here and upstairs with a few bands recently. There is also the new venue “Root Cellar” a block away, making Greenfield one of more exciting places for music in the area.

Fat Bradley – Buck as F*ck… Again

Fat Bradley was in the studio once again, finishing the tracks for the album, and I couldn’t resist running the camera. This one features my exploration into using pedals.

Smack My Bishop EP

That new content in the “Listen” section is the EP from Smack My Bishop! Ok it’s not exactly new, but I haven’t mentioned it on here before. Why the hell did I start a music website if I forget to promote these kind of things? I’m bad at this.

It features one cover I sing and 4 of my original compositions based on the shenanigans that happened at Bishop’s Lounge on a Tuesday night between the hours of 10pm and 2am. Take a listen on this site, put us on your Spotify/Pandora lists, and buy the CD!

Smack My Bishop: Our Story

Before our Bishop’s Lounge reunion show, Smack My Bishop actually rehearsed! This is a big deal because in our 4+ years of existence, I think we’ve only had 4 rehearsals; we usually learned songs on stage during our weekly hosting gig. I brought along my camera, a soft box, and told the guys to make up a story about why we stopped doing those Tuesday nights. I started, and each member built on to the story.

For an (accurate) account of our Bishop’s tenure, here’s my interview with the Hamshire Gazette before our show

Smack My Bishop:

Trumpet/Vocal: Me you fool
Keyboards: John Corda
Drums: Colin Jalbert
Harmonica: Andy Soles
Guitar: Dan Thomas
Bass: J Witbeck
Alto Sax: Steve Yarbro

Studio Horn Cam: Fat Bradley @ Shape Recording

The Fat Bradley Horn Cam strikes again!

This time we were laying down tracks at Shape Recording in Belchertown, MA. As you can see, the whole band had a great time tracking with Andy and Hannah and we can’t wait to show off our EP when the time comes. Until then, watch the ridiculousness that happens on overdub day.

In the Studio with Steve Lipman

Don’t let the sport coats and vests fool you, this is still Smack My Bishop doing something that we almost never do: read music! This time we were playing a backing session for our friend Steve Lipman. We met Steve, like so many others, at our hosted open jam in Bishop’s Lounge. He came up to the band and asked if we knew any Sinatra. Dan Thomas, our guitar player, happened to have big band arrangements of Sinatra tunes in his car. You can’t make this up. Months later we get the call to do a studio session with video recording.

Video editing & Audio Mixing: Nathan Christy

Arranger & Band Leader: Dan Prindle

Vocals: Steve Lipman

Drums: Colin Jalbert

Bass: J Witbeck

Guitar: Dan Thomas

Piano: John Corda

Alto Sax: Steve Yarbro

Trumpet: Me you fool

Trombone: Ryan Polakoff

Ya know…

I realize that this blog has completely turned into a video project post. And I think I’m OK with that. It makes me push to work hard on projects and push to get media content into the world. I may choose to do an occasional editorial post with no video to feature, but let’s be honest, you don’t really want to hear what I have to say.

Live with Adam Dunetz at the Parlor Room

Lately it seems like recording and playing with local vegetarian restaurant owners is something I do a lot. Adam was having the release show of his new album: The Backup Plan at the Parlor room. I decided to share two of the songs we played that night because I don’t often get to play in this style, and the live recording came out so well.

Guitar/Vocal – Adam Dunetz

Guitar – Anand Nayak

Gutair – Ryan Hommel

Drums – Jason Smith

Bass – Paul Kochanski

Keyboard – Ken Mauri

Trumpet – Me you fool
